Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama is one of the most powerful politicians from Ukambani.
On December 18, 2014, though, the former Senator engaged in an altercation with Kajiado Central MP Francis Ole Sakuda which spiraled out of control.
The incident was uncontrollable to the point that his trousers were torn in the presence of a number of MPs. It remains unclear why the two leaders decided to exchange bitter words and nearly fought in Parliament.
The ex-Senator has since been very vocal when it comes to matters of national interest.
He has caused a storm after declaring his interest in contesting for the governorship seat in the event of a by-election in Machakos. He said that he will only back Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti if the Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka does not impose a running mate on her.
"I will support Wavinya on one condition, she has to change her deputy Peter Mathuki. If not, she should forget about it. The person deputizing her is unfit," Muthama said.
The politician has been one of the strongest supporters of the Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.
Muthama was among the leaders who were vocal in lashing out at President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto following the bungled August 8, 2017, polls.
