Justice Milicent Odeny said failure for the two parties to agree upon the lapse of the 14 days, the case will be heard on October 24, 2019.

Landowners had taken the county government to court to stop the proposed new land rates on grounds that they were done without public participation.

Speaking outside the court,   Uasin Gishu landowners led by Kipkorir Menjo lauded the court's decision saying they will not relent until the rates are reviewed through public participation.

“The court has given us 14 days to see if we can agree with the County government on the proposed Land rates. If we will agree its okay but if we will not we will continue with the case for as long as possible until we get justice,” said Menjo.

He further said that they have already written to the county government's lawyer who has agreed to meet them before the lapse of the 14 days.

“As landowners, we will not agree with the new land rates since we cannot manage to pay. We urge the governor to give us a hearing before effecting the rates,” he added.
