Political analyst Ambrose Weda has said that opposition leader Raila Odinga will not play any role in an attempt to save his ally, Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong' who is facing graft allegations.
Ojaamong' was on Wednesday arrested after turning himself in at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) offices at Integrity Center, Nairobi, before being arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts.
This was a day after Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji approved his arrest and prosecution.
Weda said that the governor should not expect Odinga’s hand to help him evade his woes.
‘’He is not big enough to attract Raila’s attention. Odinga will just let him fall,’’ he said on KBC English Service Wednesday morning.
Weda noted that handling the issue would have been easier if it was not in the public domain, noting that any attempt to save him now will result to a public outcry.
‘’Even if Raila wanted to salvage him it will be risky because the issue is already out there and any move will raise suspicions,’’ he added.
The arrest comes only days after President Uhuru Kenyatta announced his reignited fight against graft, a policy that has since been endorsed by the Odinga-led opposition bloc.
The governor is also facing charges of abuse of office and flouting procurement procedures.
