Mr Ndolo wondered why a member of Parliament would slap another on the day that the Minister of Finance Henry Rotich was to read the budget.

Expressing his disgust, the renowned social media personality said the assault was a commentary on where Kenya was as a country.

"On such a significant day, an MP slaps a female MP within the precincts of parliament til she bleeds. Says a lot about where the country is at this point in time. #BudgetKe2019," Benji Ndolo's tweet read.

The physical assault has triggered moral outrage on social media platforms with a section of Kenyans calling on the suspected culprit to be arrested.

Female Members of Parliament stormed out of the National Assembly in protest.

The Wajir Woman Rep has written a statement with the police at the Parliament Police Station.

Fatuma Gedi told the media that she was accosted by Mr Rashid Amin, demanding to know why no money had been allocated to his constitiency.

She tried to explain to her and it is that that point that Rashid Amin punched her in the face.
