A man is nursing emotional injuries after his wife divorced him over a body lotion.
On Tuesday, Mary Nyanchoka, a mother of one divorced her husband, Vincent Ondigi, after he failed to buy her a body lotion.
Witnesses said Ondigi who works as a boda-boda rider returned home on Tuesday evening from work to their rented house at Getare area only to find his wife packing her belongings.
“Mary has been begging her husband to buy her body lotion for the last 2 weeks but in vain. The husband gave her a deaf ear and Mary packed all her belongings and left the house to an unknown destination,” said William Nyabaro.
Nyabaro said efforts by neighbors to have the couple sit down and solve their problem didn’t bear fruits because the woman insisted that she must divorce her irresponsible husband.
Ondigi blamed one of his neighbors for his wife’s departure.
“I have a loan I am servicing currently and I had promised my wife that I will buy her a lotion on Thursday but she could not understand me because she was being incited by one of the neighbors. I tried to persuade her to stay but she refused instead accused me of being irresponsible yet I am not,” he defended himself.
