Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has dismissed claims that her government is not participating in the ongoing Sixth Devolution Conference in Kirinyaga County.

Ngilu said the claims being circulated in some sections of the media that Kitui is not part of the conference are false.

The governor stated that her administration did not refuse to pay Sh2 million to facilitate the event as alluded.

"It is is malicious for some sections of the media to propagate propaganda with the intention of making us look bad," Ngilu said.

She addressed the press in Kitui town on Monday.

Ngilu revealed that a section of Kitui County Government officials were already in Kirinyaga ahead of today's official opening of the devolution conference.

There were claims that Ngilu's administration had refused to pay Sh2 million fee for the event.

The five day conference kicked off in Kirinyaga county on Monday.

The annual event aims to take stock of devolution scorecard across the 47 counties for the past one year.
