Earlier, there were fears within political circles that were rising political temperatures in Jubilee which would see MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto skip the address.

However, an impromptu meeting by Uhuru to Ruto’s office on March 26, where photos of the two leaders chit-chatting were shared, has cooled things in Jubilee.

In an interview, Duale told the Nation that Jubilee leaders love their party leader President Kenyatta.

“They are excited to have the President exercise his constitutional obligation in accordance with Article 132(b) to ensure respective measures are taken and progress achieved in realising national values by his government,” Duale said.

He added that the party is not planning to have a  parliamentary group meeting as their leaders are ready to rally behind the head of state.

“We have strong and loyal members of our party, which is proud to have more than 175 MPs and hence no crisis for calling a parliamentary group meeting or Kamukunji,” he added.

Since President Kenyatta made peace with Raila through the popular March 9, 2017, handshake. Jubilee has witnessed camps coalescing around DP Ruto and the President.

These camps have been dubbed 'Kieleweke' which is reportedly against Ruto’s 2022 bid and 'Tanga Tanga' which backs his presidential ambition.
