Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma has reaffirmed the country's position on the simmering row with Somalia over sections of Indian Ocean.
A fortnight ago, the country recalled Somalia ambassador to Nairobi Mohamud Ahmed to get 'correct response' from Mogadishu over claims that neighbouring Somalia had auctioned oil and gas blocks which are being contested in International Court of Justice.
And in a press conference on Thursday, Ms Juma insisted that Kenya was not ready to surrender even an 'inch' to the troubled Horn of Africa nation, adding that the position was reached in a Cabinet meeting.
“We will not cede any inch of Kenyan territory to any government,” said Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amb Monica Juma
On Thursday, President Uhuru Kenyatta chaired a lengthy meeting at State House, Nairobi where the decision was reached according to Ambassador Juma.
It is alleged that Somalia has auctioned the oil and gas deposits in the Indian Ocean and that the bidding process is currently ongoing in London, a position disputed by Somalia.
Ambassador Lucas Tumbo was also withdrawn from Somalia as Kenya seeks to stamp her authority on the controversial border row that threatens the relationship between the two nations.
