A fired up President Uhuru Kenyatta insists that he will not allow 'early campaigns by people in or out of government', adding that he will not condone disruption of service delivery.
In yet another tough statement seemingly directed to his deputy William Ruto, Uhuru also warned that those opposing his unity with Raila Odinga should be slammed by Kenyans.
"We are not in campaign mood. Those moving around ought to stop. It's time to focus on service delivery. We shall not allow some forces to disrupt us," Uhuru said, adding that his government is committed towards paying sugar farmers.
ODM leader Raila Odinga who had accompanied him to the burial of Bruce Odhiambo at Muhoroni also insisted that his handshake with the president had nothing to do with 2022 succession politics.
"I wonder why some people are running around propagating divisive politics. That is not not what we need,’’ said Raila.
He revised how he was forced to soften his political stand when the country was in a political crisis after the 2017 elections.
“But we agreed that the interest of Kenya supersedes individual interests, and this why we ceded hardline positions to work together,’’ said Raila.
The deputy president has been lately traversing the country in preparation for 2022 polls, a move that has not gone well with Uhuru, who is keen to stamp authority on his legacy.
