The relatives of the deceased could not hold back their tears when the scene crime officer, Ms Jennifer Jepkosgey, showed the court photos of their kin lying on the floor in cold blood on that fateful day.

Tension was high in the court as the officers described the scene of the crime during the hearing. She revealed that the deceased was found with her mouth covered with masking tape and her hands tied at the back.

The officer also said that the deceased had sustained injuries on the neck as she lay with a mobile phone besides.

“Photos number 33, 34 and 35 show the upper part of the deceased’s body in the bathtub with her hands tied at the back, a masking tape on the mouth, injuries on her neck and a mobile phone beside her,” Ms Jepkosgey said.

Dr Peter Muriuki Ndegwa, who conducted a postmortem examination on Kimani’s body, however, said that she had no tape at the time of the process.

He also told the court that the deceased met his death after bleeding profusely following the neck injury.

Irungu’s lawyer Hassan Nandwa claimed that the Kimani might have died from starvation.
