Uasin Gishu gubernatorial race in 2022 will be one of its kind.
Although most candidates said to be on a mission to succeed governor Jackson Mandago who is serving for his last term have not publicly declared their interests, Kenyan Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Julius Bitok and tycoon Zedekiah Kiprop alias Buzeki are seen as the frontrunners of the race.
The two politicians have been traversing different parts of the county with an aim to boost their bids by attending different local meetings and ceremonies.
However, their main focus has always been distinguishable as Bitok seems to be more interested in educational projects while Buzeki who is the chair for Chemelil Sugar Company is more focused on agriculture.
Through Ambassador Bitok foundation which was founded in 2015, the former Moi University lecturer boasts of sponsoring the education of over 1,000 students from needy backgrounds across the county.
On his part, Buzeki has been openly championing for the rights of farmers who have of late been neglected by the National government as the farm inputs are becoming more expensive yet the market for their produce is poor and unreliable.
For instance, Buzeki’s efforts to provide cheap and affordable fertilizers for farmers definitely earned him some points.
Apart from their manifestos, this is what Buzeki and Bitok will be tabling before Uasin Gishu residents who will have to choose one between them or any other candidates.
