Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has warned politicians thinking that they can impose themselves on Kenyans of tough days ahead, saying that they will be rejected.
Speaking on Tuesday, the county boss stated that Kenyans are now very alert, and have decided to only elect people with ideas and not those only out solely for political power.
He noted that those who have been leading suffering and poverty-stricken Kenyans have been identified, and will have only themselves to blame for not delivering come 2022.
"Daggers have been drawn. Majority of Kenyans are against people only interested in the acquisition of power regardless of suffering Kenyans," he said in an interview on Radio Maisha.
He also urged Kenyans to shun corrupt leaders, pointing out that theft of public resources is the reason behind poor roads, lack of toilets and other necessary amenities across the nation.
Asked about his sincerity, given that he was recently seen in the company of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, who has been blamed for the loss of millions in the National Youth Service (NYS), Mutua said that Waiguru has since been cleared.
According to the governor, Waiguru, who was then the Devolution Cabinet Secretary, was also never arraigned in court, which makes her clean.
"Waiguru has already been cleared. She was also not arrested or arraigned in court (Gavana Waiguru tayari ashakuwa cleared, pia hajawahi kushikwa na kupelekwa kortini)," he added.
Mutua is among the politicians who have declared their presidential interest in the 2022 general polls.
