Angry locals on Tuesday protested that a non-resident was recruited to supervise the census exercise.

"We are not going to open our houses at night to be counted because youths from Bombaba were denied a chance to count us. Let the government led by Kisii County Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi look for people to count," said Peter Ondiba.

Raphael Makori wondered why a person from a different location was recruited for the census exercise yet there are qualified youths who could have been given the chance to provide the supervisory of the exercise.

"As residents of Bombaba we are angry because a person recruited to supervise the census process does not hail from Bombaba. Let it be known that we are not going to accept to be counted," he stated.

Reached for a comment, the commissioner appealed to residents to accept the exercise to go on as planned.

"There is nothing we can do because those who were recruited to conduct the census exercise have already received training. I urge members of Bombaba to ensure they are counted," said Kigochi.
