We are fond of washing our faces with hot water especially during cold seasons and others tend to think that warm water is the best choice for treating acne or pimples but do we know that hot water is hazardous to the face?
Here are three reasons why you should stop washing your face with hot water:
1. Hot water irritates the skin on your face
The skin on the face is the most delicate in the entire body and so sensitive to hot water.
Under the skin lies capillaries which are tiny pipes supplying blood to the skin and pores that regulate the facial temperature.
Applying hot water on the face, therefore, poses damage to these blood vessels and pores causing irritation on the face.
2. Hot water dries the facial skin
Hot water on the skin dries the facial skin by scraping off the essential oils on the surface leaving it dry and parched.
Once the skin dries up we are forced to apply moisturizers which in turn cause acne and red spots on the face.
Dermatologists advise that we use cold or lukewarm water to clean our faces instead of hot water.
3. Hot water on your face can cause early aging
Dry skin is associated with old appearance.
When you wash your face with hot water on a regular basis, the essential natural oils on the surface are scrapped off according to point #2 leaving the skin dry.
Frequent washing of the face with hot water also slows down the production of skin moisturizers; sebum and collagen making the skin appear shiny and weary.
