Detectives are pursuing a mysterious man believed to have accompanied Joseph Irungu to Monica Kimani's house during the fateful night, reports the Standard.
Ms. Kimani was found dead on September 20th and Irungu, the prime suspect is set to take plea along with his fiance Jacque Maribe on Monday.
And for days now, detectives under the order of DCI George Kinoti have taken search to Mombasa where the third suspect, believed to have been at crime scene, is said to have gone to seek help from witchdoctors.
“Preliminary investigations have established that Irungu was seen in the company of another person near the crime scene,” said the police in an affidavit.
“The identity of the person seen with Irungu has yet to be established but the investigating team is following leads,” they said.
Images captured on CCTV cameras on the fateful day shows the car which Irungu was driving in exciting with another man on board.
The suspect, police argue, may have taken away the weapon used to murder Monica, her car keys and those of the door.
Already, Jacque Maribe's neighbour Brian Kassaine, has conceded that Irungu asked for paraffin to burn clothes in the night Monica was reportedly killed.
Ms. Maribe, whose mention in the murder case has taken the country by storm, is said to have refused to talk at Lang'ata Women prison with sources indicating that she's depressed.
