Lawyer Miguna Miguna now wants Kenyans to stop condemning Migori Governor Okoth Obado over his implication in the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
In a tweet on Friday, he further took issue with a section of Kenyans who are already calling for stern punitive measures against the county chief, terming the same hypocritical.
He termed them as partisan, questioning why they never did the same for past cases involving prominent people, including opposition leader Raila Odinga at some point.
Miguna claimed that a maid was found strangled at the servants' quarters of the former Prime Minister's home in 2011, questioning why neither Raila nor his wife Ida was questioned or condemned as is the case with Obado now.
"Kenyans are yelling that Okoth Obado is a "criminal" yet they didn't do the same after @RailaOdinga's "maid" was found strangled in the servant quarters of his home on August 2, 2011. Was Ida Odinga or Raila ever questioned by police? Were all the salacious stories false?" wondered the barrister.
At the time, the former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant was the aide to Raila who was then a Premier in the Grand Coalition Government.
Obado was on Thursday again remanded until October 8 when he appeared before Lady Justice Jessie Lessit at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi.
Sharon was reportedly abducted on the night of September 3 in Migori County and found dead in the neighbouring Homabay County three days later.
The prosecution argued that it was the doing of the Governor through his associates, some of whom are as well in police custody.
