Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka’s supporters were not happy when the Ukambani political kingpin was not named the flagbearer of the opposition ahead of the August 2017 General election.
The Wiper Party leader found himself at the crossroads between staying in NASA, leaving for Jubilee or contesting as an independent candidate as provided in the constitution of this nation.
To the surprise of many, Kalonzo came forth and assured Raila that he was going to support him until he ascends to power. There is no doubt that the Luo political kingpin was a happy man to see a friend sacrifice for him twice to give it a try after losing in the previous election.
He went ahead to promise that he will be a one-term president. Kalonzo warned his enemies about trying to divide NASA saying that they were in for a rude shock.
The Wiper party leader also said that Raila was the perfect man to lead this nation after the first term of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto. He promised to camp in different parts of the nation to ensure that Raila becomes the President of this nation upon the departure of Uhuru.
“You should ignore leaders who are being used by politicians from outside the region to split our vote in the August election. I want to tell all voters from this region to stand firm in support of my brother Raila, as he is the only person with the requisite political experience to lead this country,” Kalonzo said as quoted by Nation.
When the Jubilee side won the election, NASA decided to swear in Raila and Kalonzo was by his side until the last minute when he went missing in action.
