Barely a week after Finance Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich unveiled a 3.02 trillion National Budget kicking Boda Boda business to a corner over heavy insurance regulations, now the Cabinet Secretary for Interior Dr Fred Matiang'i has come to their rescue.
According to the new budget, Boda riders are required to have four insurance covers to be allowed to fully operate.
Speaking at Gesiaga High School in Nyamira on Friday during a fundraiser, Matiangi assured the riders the government will not implement the regulations before it consults them fully through a task force.
"These riders are our sons. I want to assure you, have heard your complains about the new regulations but we will not implement them now until we sit with you together and come up with resolutions," assured Matiang'i.
The insurance covers they are required to have is for the Motorbike, Boda Boda rider, passenger and pedestrians.
Matiang'i called upon the Boda Boda operators to be calm across the country and worry less for he willfully and amicably settles the issue.
"You are hardworking people. We don't want to lose you. You do a good Job and service to our people. We will put heads together and come up with a solution," He said.
The tough CS revealed that the operators have now clicked over one Million across the country a number he said should be treated with a lot of Care.
He has challenged counties to try and allocate finances to train them so that they can be issued with licenses which will reduce the current cases of accidents witnessed in the country.
