Facilitated by easy movement of chopper in the pretext of maintaining law and order, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i could have caused confusions about his next political moves.
For better part of weekends, Mr. Matiang'i spends time attending social functions in his native Gusii, both in Kisii and Nyamira Counties.
Born to parents from Kisii and raised in Nyamira, the two facts gives him an upper hand on his quest for a political seat, with gubernatorial seat at stake.
"He attends functions both in Kisii and Nyamira, funnily, he keeps his cards to the chest. This even confuses us more," said an MP who requested anonymity.
Both Governors James Ongwae (Kisii) and John Nyagarama (Nyamira) will be retiring in 2022 further making the race to succeed them open.
ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire, a front runner in Nyamira seat, despite rumours that Matiang'i could have settled to run in Nyamira, seemed to have no idea about the progress.
"I thought he's running in Kisii! But if he's ready to join in Nyamira, there is no harm about that. We shall handle it."
At Menyenya over the weekend, Matiang'i who arrived on a chopper with Senator Okong'o Mogeni, snubbed local politics in his address.
