Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has asked Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu to urgently intervene in the county's deteriorating health sector.
Speaking to journalists in Gatundu Town on Saturday, Kuria said that media reports of the deteriorated health sector in Kiambu paints a negative picture of the county.
The MP said that Kiambu people have a right to good health care and that it is the responsibility of the county government to guarantee the same.
"It is pathetic to see in the media sick people sharing beds and complaints of lack of medicine at Kiambu hospitals," he said.
Kuria asked Waititu to guarantee residents better healthcare services.
"The governor should act quickly and ensure order is restored if the stories in the media are true," he said.
Waititu's government is on the spot after claims of patients sharing beds at the Kiambu Level Four hospital were reported in the media.
Patients at the county's public hospitals have also complained that there is no medicine at the hospitals.
According to Kiambu Government Health Executive Dr Joseph Murega, the county attends to thousands of patients from counties other counties such as Nairobi and Murang'a.
"Our public facilities are overwhelmed by many patients who come from neighbouring counties," he told reporters on Saturday.
