A Nyamira based politician has claimed that a section of MPs from Gusii region who have joined NASA leader Raila Odinga to push for a referendum are selfish.
Victor Swanya, Wiper party Vice chairman said Raila's calls for a referendum to amend the constitution should not be accepted.
"It is shameful that some selfish elected leaders from Gusii region have joined Raila camp to push for a referendum.
"Kenyans don't need a referendum because already poor people are suffering in villages with increased standards of living," he said.
Swanya urged electorates from Nyamira to punish MPs who are backing the plebiscite.
"I urge voters to punish these people who are out to drain our country," he added.
He pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta to oppose Raila's planned moves for the sake of the economy.
