Ayub Savula has been arrested.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) arrested the Lugari lawmaker at an entertainment joint in Nairobi before taking him to the DCI headquarters for interrogation on Friday evening.
According to the DCI boss George Kinoti, the Amani National Congress (ANC) MP will be arraigned in court on Monday over Sh2.5 billion scandal at the Government Advertising Agency (GAA).
Savula allegedly conspired to unlawfully pocket a whooping Sh122,335,500 from the Ministry of Information Communications and Technology.
DCI director said other two suspects (among them a Principal Secretary) who conspired to steal with the second term lawmaker are at large.
Savula who is a vocal supporter of ANC party boss and NASA coalition founder Musalia Mudavadi, is being held at Muthaiga Police Station.
The lawmaker seeks to succeed Governor Wycliffe Oparanya in the 2022 Kakamega county gubernatorial race.
