Speaking in a pastoralist leadership summit in Garissa on Friday afternoon, the DP said that most of the corruption allegations geared towards government projects are raised by people who don’t want development to progress.

“Most of the noise you hear about corruption scandals out there are just fabrications: they are rumours that are spread by people who don’t like the good work done by the Jubilee government: most of the allegations are baseless and lack evidence”, he said.

The DP maintained that the government will not entertain people who always want to create alarm using corruption allegations.

The summit brought together governors from Turkana, Marsabit, Laikipia, Garissa, Mandera and Isiolo counties.

“We know the truth and we must say it, there are people out there who always suspect that there is an element of corruption in every government project, we are not fools and there is a shortage of fools in Kenya,” DP Ruto said.

The DP added that the government is dedicated to fighting graft and that the relevant institutions will be given a conducive environment to pursue suspects.

What the DP pointed clearly is the fact that people have commenced using corruption allegations to foster tension among Kenyans. However, the second in command pointed out that there are some individuals who have capitalized on the handshake to spoil the government’s efforts of achieving the big four agenda.

He also said that any government official involved in the graft will face the law.

The DP’s sentiments come barely a day after he dismissed claims that 21 billion shillings were lost in the Elgeyo Marakwet dam scandal.
