Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho’s dream of becoming Kenya’s President is invalid.  The second-time governor is headed nowhere if his claims that he will be on the ballot paper in 2022 are anything to go by.

Joho is walking in the shadow of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga. If not for Odinga, Joho is a-nobody in national politics.

Although he is among the most influential leaders in the Coast region, the recent twist of events clearly shows that he is becoming weaker.

Secondly, Joho hails from the minority community in the nation. The country’s political scene is dominated by five tribes; Kikuyu, Kalenjin, Luo, Luhya and Kamba.

It will be an uphill task for Joho to win the support of these communities when that time comes. The country has been led by two communities since independence. The remaining communities have tried by all means to take over power but it remains a pipe dream.

How will Joho do it from a community without numbers? The handshake has clearly worked against Joho.

The leaders who were in Raila’s camp have now turned against the Former Prime Minister.

Joho was waiting for the support of Raila to ascend to power but the Luo political kingpin is losing it fast after he failed to beat President Uhuru Kenyatta to take over the seat.
