Two journalists have been arrested by police while on duty in Nyeri in a case that has dragged Deputy President William Ruto after attending a church function in the county.
Those arrested are Irene Mugo of Daily Nation and Lydia Nyawira of the Standard.
Sources privy to the arrests told this writer the two were interviewing a man who was arrested for 'disrespecting' the Deputy President during the Sunday's function.
The man is said to have attended the function wearing a t-shirt branded 'Kitaeleweka'.
Kitaeleweka is seen within the political quarters as an anti-Ruto slogan pushed by those against his 2022 presidential bid.
Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu confirmed the arrests of the man and also the journalists.
The two journalists are currently held at Mukurwe-ini police station.
