Speaking on Wednesday during an interview, Waiguru wondered why she was ranked second above retired President Daniel Moi in terms of corruption.

Last week's survey by Ipsos Synovate named Waiguru as the perceived second most corrupt person in Kenya at 31 per cent above Moi who placed at number three with a score of 17 per cent.

Waiguru had closely followed Deputy President William Ruto who had topped the list at 33 per cent.

"This poll ranked me above former president Moi who ruled this country for 24 years, everybody knows what we think about the Moi era. Are you saying that I stole more than Moi so that you can make me more corrupt?" she posed.

But in a quick rejoinder, KANU, which is led by Moi's son Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, bashed the Governor and warned her against dragging Moi's name to her 'historic looting at the National Youth Service'.

"Governor @AnneWaiguru oversaw the historic looting at NYS. It is unfortunate that she dragged Retired President Moi into her situation. The Governor should carry her own cross," KANU said in a tweet on Thursday.

During the Wednesday night interview, Waiguru had denied of any wrongdoing at the NYS saying she was just a victim of unnamed forces out to bring her down.
