An elected MP from Gusii region has broken his silence after his relative perished in chopper crash.

Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka mourned the death of Captain Mario Magonga who met his death on Sunday night together with four Americans. 

The chopper crashed in Turkana County on Sunday evening according to police reports. 

The lawmaker has asked relevant authorities to speedy investigations to establish the cause of the accident which claimed the lives of Magonga and the 4 Americans. 

"Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) and concerned government agencies should hasten probe over the matter in order to establish the cause of the crash," said the ODM rebel MP. 

Onyonka who decamped from ODM party to Ford Kenya party during the 2017 polls, said Magonga's family received the news in shock.

"Everyone is shocked by Magonga's death. We leave everything to God following his sudden demise," he added. 

Magonga, until his death, has been flying Deputy President William Ruto. He hails from Nyamataro area in Kitutu Chache South and was son to the late Brigadier Pius Magonga. 

Top leaders from Gusii region such as Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, Wiper politician Victor Swanya have mourned his death, terming him as a jovial and disciplined pilot.
