One person has died while three others sustained serious injuries in a road accident along Kanyonyoo-Embu road in Masinga, Machakos County.
The Friday accident which occurred near Kivaa market involved a probox car and truck that was ferrying sand.
The vehicles collided head-on.
According to an eyewitness, the driver of the probox car was overspeeding when the accident happened.
"The driver of the probox was overspeeding in a corner. There was no otherwise, so the vehicles had to collide head-on," said witness Muli Kavati.
Kivaa chief Josphat Kalungu confirmed the incident.
Kalungu urged road users to be extra careful when using the road and observe traffic rules and regulations to prevent unnecessary accidents and loss of more lives.
"Let us be careful, let's avoid some funny mistakes like overspeeding when taking a corner because you never know what you will meet on the other side of the corner," Kalungu said.
He addressed the press in his office on Friday.
The victims were rushed to Embu Level 5 Hospital for treatment.
The body was removed to the same hospital's mortuary.
