Former Subukia Member of Parliament Koigi wa Wamwere is a staunch supporter of England's Arsenal Football Club, he has revealed.

The latter said the same in an interview at Sauti ya Mwananchi's Radio Cheche show Saturday evening.

However, his reason to pick the team as his favorite is the interesting one, claiming that he simply picked Arsenal courtesy of its good number of black players.

"Watu huchagua timu zao kulingana na vitu kadhaa, mimi naunga Arsenal kwa sababu wakati huo ilikuwa na watu wengi wenye rangi ya kiafrika. (At the time I was picking my team, I chose Arsenal because the team had a large number of blacks)," he said.

Koigi rose to fame when he won the Subukia constituency seat, then Nakuru North, in 1979, before losing it in 1982 after he was implicated in the attempted coup against then President Daniel Moi's leadership.

He bounced back in 2002 to 2007, his Nakuru senatorial bid in 2017 was, however, unsuccessful.
