A standard two pupil died on Wednesday evening after being electrocuted in Kakamega county.
The incident happened while the minor was going home from school.
The circumstances that caused the incident are still unclear.
Witnesses raised an alarm after the tragedy and the boy's family was notified.
The Kakamega Central OCPD Joseph Chebii confirmed the incident saying a machine that was being used in the construction works that is ongoing along the Ikuywa road on Tuesday pulled down KPLC electric pole at Khayega. The overhead cables on the poles were reportedly left hanging un-attended until Wednesday around 5:00 pm when the pupil stepped on the live wires causing his death."I sent officers to the scene and they were accompanied by KPLC technical officers who switched off the power and assisted in removing the body. We took the body to Khayega Hospital Mortuary. We want to establish whether the contractor indeed informed KPLC of the destroyed powerline and they all have to take responsibility for causing death by negligence," said Mr Chebii.A similar incident was witnessed when a four-year-old boy on Sunday died in Nairobi county after touching live wire in the church compound while he was playing. The young boy who had accompanied his parents to AIC church Milimani went outside to play with other children when he met his death.
