Uhuru has reportedly been at loggerheads with Ruto over graft war with the DP insisting that the move was a wider plot by State House operatives to frustrate his 2022 presidential bid.

"President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, Dr. @WilliamsRuto today shared a working lunch at the DP's Harambee House Annex office during which the two leaders discussed matters related to the Government‘s development agenda," Uhuru's communication team wrote.

Present in the meeting were Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua and Mumias East legilator Benjamin Washiali. Outside the Harambee Annex, Uhuru's personal assistant Jomo Gecaga was also seen leaving the meeting.

While Kinyua's presence in the meeting could validate the official nature of it, Washiali's appearance could out back political aspect of the meeting. The Majority Whip is a vocal supporter of DP Ruto.

Blogger Robert Alai however says Uhuru's decision to visit Ruto could trigger heated political exchanges in future. According to him, Ruto should be the one to have visited Uhuru.

"But Uhuru scored big against Ruto’s camp by going to his junior’s office. Ruto should have insisted that they meet in State House or Harambee House," he said.

The president is struggling to stamp authority in the fight against graft even with the persistent complaints from the team allied to the DP. The two are nowdays not seen speaking from same script.
