The Ogiek community living in Tarakwa ward of Kesses constituency may soon have a reason to smile.
This is after the area Member of Parliament Dr Swarup Mishra revealed that the community will soon get title deeds for their land.
The over 3,000 members of the community has been living in the land for over 10 years now without the crucial document.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Mishra said there will be a mega event for handing over the title deeds on October 12 at Cheboror primary school.

"The event will be presided over by the Land Cabinet Secretary Farida Karonei and the Speaker of the National Assembly Justine Muturi," posted the MP on Thursday.
"Plans for the event are almost complete and the people from Ogiek community will soon have their title deeds and be the rightful owners of the pieces of land they occupy," he added.
The first-time legislator said his aim is to ensure that every individual from the community is in possession of title deeds.
He further promised to work with the County government of Uasin Gishu and the National Lands Commission (NLC) to ensure that land issues in the constituency are a thing of the past.
"We will also try our best to settle other land issues facing residents and ensure that everyone has title deeds," assured Mishra in his Facebook post.
