The United States of America military has revealed that it conducted a military operation that resulted in the deaths of at least 37 Al-Shabaab militants.
One strike at Debatscile killed twenty-seven while another one killed ten, bringing the tally of those killed to thirty-seven.
This comes as pressure mounts on the ragtag group that has been responsible for deadly terror attacks in Somalia and Kenya.
In 2015, militants pledging their allegiance to the terrorist group attacked Garissa University College, killing at least 147 students.
Kenyan forces, alongside AFRICOM forces, continue to battle the group in Somalia in a bid to return a semblance of peace to the war-torn nation.
The United States is also part of the effort to blunt the influence that Al-Shabaab wields and its ability to stage terror attacks.
Al-Shabaab has not yet confirmed the attack on it.
"These precision airstrikes were conducted in support of the Federal Government of Somalia as it continues to degrade al-Shabaab. Airstrikes reduce Al-Shabaab's ability to plot future attacks, disrupt its leadership networks, and degrade its freedom of maneuver within the region," the statement by the U.S military partly read.
