According to DP Ruto, together with other business partners, they applied for a loan to build the high-end hotel next to Wilson Airport in Langat'a.

"The people of Kenya need to know the truth about the famous Weston Hotel. The Hotel was built using the money we borrowed," he said.

Weston Hotel was constructed on  0.7 hectares of land.

He asked why Weston is the talk of town yet it has been set up in a small piece of land when there are other Kenyans who own hundreds of hectares within Nairobi but it never raises debate.

Ruto also cleared the air saying that he legally acquired the piece of land where Weston Hotel has been set up on the basis of a "willing buyer and a willing seller".

"Those people with large pieces of land in areas such as Upper Hill who have failed to develop the lands by even building kiosks should surrender the lands to the government," he opined.

He added: "Several Kenyans have been hired to work at Weston Hotel because the small piece of land was acquired to be developed. "
