The report was rejected by MPs on Thursday last week.

Duale says that claims that he is cushioning and defending Adan alongside Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich from possible prosecution over their roles in the contraband sugar saga are false.

The Garissa MP says that his decision to oppose the sugar report is no sign that he is defending the CSs who have been indicted.

Duale maintained that he opposed the report because it was shoddy and had serious gaps.

“The media should stop speculation on the sugar report, we rejected it for obvious reasons that it was shoddy with serious gaps and nothing else,” he told journalists at Parliament Buildings on Tuesday.

Duale is among MPs on the spot after claims emerged that some of the lawmakers pocketed Sh10, 000 to reject the sugar report.

The Garissa Township MP further said that he is not aware some MPs received bribes.

Duale has supported calls for investigations into bribery allegations, adding that action should be taken on those found culpable.

The sugar report that was rejected had indicted CSs Rotich and Adan.

Former Agriculture CS Willy Bett was also indicted with recommendations that he be prosecuted over the illegal importation.

Investigations into allegations of bribery at Parliament is underway with pressure mounting on Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji to arrest MPs implicated.
