The scheduled meeting between Raila Odinga and his political nemesis William Ruto in Borabu backfired in last minutes on Friday with the two chosing to attend different functions.
Earlier at Nyansiongo, security forces attached to the DP landed at the venue only to vacate some minutes past noon when the funeral to Mama Peninah Osero was underway.
Mr Odinga chose to land at Kisumu for launching of Lake Victoria water hyacinth removal while Deputy President William Ruto headed to Thogoto for the burial of Prof Abel Mugenda.
But the last cancellation of the trips did not go well with some of their supporters who had travelled to the venue perhaps to see their political idols.
"I travelled all the way from Chepilat when I heard that Ruto was coming. I am disappointed that he didn't come. I was expecting to see him for the first time one on one," said David Ng'eno.
For Julius Asuma, Raila's absence was tragic since he was keen to hear the ODM leader's perspective on alleged worrying levels of corruption in county governments.
"Nyamira has been in the headlines for all wrong reasons. We wanted to see Raila hear now that ODM is in charge of this county. It's a missed opportunity."
While former Cabinet Secretary Franklin Bett represented DP Ruto, the ODM leader was represented by party treasurer Timothy Bosire who condemned graft in the county government.
Mama Peninah Osero is mother to seasoned politician Patrick Osero and wife to former North Mugirango MP Joseph Osero who died a couple of years ago.
