As the 2022 Presidential race continues to take centre stage in different gatherings, Mwingi Central Member of Parliament Gideon Mulyungi has said that they met DP Ruto for the sake of development and not backing his Presidential bid when that time comes.

Speaking at Musila Gardens where he issued development cheques worth Sh22 million to all 180 schools in the constituency, Dr Mulyungi insisted that they are yet to decide on the candidate they will back during the race.

“As we all might have seen, there is a clear indication that Jubilee is in the brink of a major falling-out. Our aim as Wiper is to capitalise on [it] by seeking support from either side which would be willing to work with us,” said Dr Mulyungi.

He also said that the leaders of Ukambani will not be bought by leaders with selfish interests, adding that there is time to make a decision on whom they will back during the contest.

DP Ruto is looking forward to the support of some leaders from the region in order to beat Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka in the race to the state house.
