3. Mugumo Gardens
This historical site is situated in Thika along Mugo-Kiburu road. It is named after the 15-foot diameter giant mugumo tree. The site is believed to be where legendary prophet Mugo wa Kibiro made the prophecy about Kenya's independence. Mugo had prophesied that the fall of the tree would signify the end of the British rule over Kenya. The tree fell in 1963, the same year Kenya gained its independence.
