The former MP said it is malicious for the government to demolish the mall it had earlier approved for construction.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, the former MP asked Taj Mall owner to sue the government and seek compensation.

“The government should first go for people who approved the construction of these buildings instead of causing misery to owners who have used bank loans to put them up,” he said.

Irshad warned that the ongoing demolition will scare away investors.

The government said the mall was sitting on a road reserve.

A position the owner of the mall dismissed.

He has vowed to sue the government for compensation.

On Sunday, Kibera MP Ken Okoth asked Governor Sonko to extend the demolition of illegal structures to his (Okoth's) constituency.

The MP said that people have encroached on public land making it hard for development to be realized.
