Speaking in Eldoret on Saturday, Atwoli noted that all companies and individuals being investigated for the irregular payments made by the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) are from the maize growing area.

“It's sad that people formed companies to go and steal from the father and mother putting the lives of their own people who are farmers in danger. This was an open theft of a child stealing from the mother,” he said.

“We want to see those people involved in the scam in court and their companies closed down,” added COTU boss who pointed out that Kenyans depend on maize farming and stealing from them should be condoned.

Atwoli further cautioned against politicians plot to create instability in the country by creating a shortage of food.

He also hit out at some politicians from maize growing areas who have remained mum yet farmers have been subjected to a lot of injustices by the government.
