Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s wife Susan Wangare was on Wednesday, August 15, arrested alongside 14 others in Nairobi over the unauthorized and illegal construction of a building in the city.
The Kiambu county boss later made a crucial phone call to his Nairobi counterpart Mike Sonko, to negotiate the release of his wife.
A leaked video recording of the telephone call was shared widely on social media, eliciting mixed reactions among Kenyans.
In his defence, Sonko argued that the video had accidentally leaked and further filed a copyright complaint with Twitter, noting that the video was circulating on the platform without his consent.
Several people on social media have since taken up the challenge.
Comedian Jaymo Ule Msee has also taken up the phone call challenge. In the recording, two men can be heard conversing on the phone with one man pleading for the release of his girlfriend and all his side chicks.
Here is their phone conversation:
Person A: Hallo
Person B: Mzitoo
Person A: Yes boss
Person B: Mimi nafukuza dem yako kutoka kwa bash eh, lakini hawa side chick itabidi wabaki kwa bash.
Person A: Lakini boss, boss fukuza tu watu yote tafadhali boss.
Person B: Apana unajua io ni orders from above eh. Unajua ii dem yako na hawa maside chicks zako walikuja kwa ii bash yetu na imewabamba sana. Inawafurahisha sanaaaaa.
Person A: Eh eh
Person B: Sasa mimi, kwa sababu we ni rafiki yangu, nataka nivunje sheria ya mafisi, niachilie dem yako lakini hawa wengine watabaki kwa bash.
Person A: Lakini Jemo si tumetoka mbali bana. We unakumbuka venye ii Nairobi tumehanya na bado tutaendelea kuhanya na hatutaacha kuhanya. Nisaidie tu tafadhali, wachilia tu watu wote, waende waendelee na kazi yao tafadhali.
Person B: Lakini wewe unaskia watu tulitoa rule ya mafisi tukasema hakuna kukatia madem za wenyewe, hakuna kuita madem wa wenyewe kwa bash. Wewe last week umeita madem zetu na madem wa kina Peter kwa bash yako, alafu sai unaanza kupiga kelele prrrrrrr, prrrrrr ati wachilia!!!! wachilia!!!!
Person A: Lakini Jemo sasa nitasaidiwa na nani mwingine ni wewe tu nataka unisaidie apa.
Person B: Apana, ii ni orders from above, bash haiezi isha.
Person A: Eh
Person B: We pigia Muita.
The phone conversation continues until when only the main girlfriend is allowed to leave the bash while the side chicks remain in the bash. The man pleading is even asked to come for approvals so that he will be participating in the team mafisi bashes.
In general, the conversation is a parody of Waititu and Sonko's leaked conversation about the release of the governor's wife and 14 other people.
