Former Nairobi governor aspirant Miguna Miguna has termed the arrest of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu as political witchhunt.
In a series of tweets, Miguna who recently revealed that he will be jetting back into the country this September said that Mwilu was arrested because she nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto’s win.
The firebrand lawyer termed the arrest as unconstitutional and called for justice.
He also said that the Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) team that 'masterminded the rigging of the last general elections' walks free when Mwilu is being haunted by the government.
The opposition has also called for proper investigations into the matter.
“Deputy CJ Philemona Mwilu is in the dock because she nullified Uhuru Kenyatta's electoral fraud. Her bodyguard was maimed for the same reason. Meanwhile, Wafula Chebukati, Ezra Chiloba, Davis Chirchir and those who stole the election for Uhuru Kenyatta are free, having abused public office and misappropriated more than Sh100 billion in phony procurements and delinquent technology,” he said in part.
The arrest of Mwilu has continued to elicit mixed reactions from different factions.
A section of leaders from the opposition leaders have faulted the manner in which the DPP has handled the case.
Her defense team yesterday secured her release before the charges were suspended.
