During an interview with Citizen Television, Mzee Ali stated that he always advices his son to be calm because being a politician is always stressful.

“Ukali anao, lakini mimi najaribu kumcool namwambia usifanye ukali, si vizuri. Wewe ni mwanasiasa,” he said during the interview.

The time when Joho’s fierce character was publicly exposed was in 2016 when he openly attacked the Jubilee administration in front of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto.

Joho was bitter because he was not informed about the President’s visit to his county to issue title deeds.

However, Sonko was not happy with the remarks and asked Joho to respect the President and stop blackmailing him. Sonko said that the President had valid reasons to stop informing Joho of his Mombasa visits.

Joho also faulted Jubilee administration and directly addressed the President about claiming to be the funder of a ferry project. He talked with some bitterness that was viewed as disrespect by Jubilee supporters.

The governor also offered a recent angry response to DP William Ruto after saying the Retired Prime Minister Raila Odinga was using the famous handshake to kill Jubilee in the name of national unity.

Joho directed the DP to fight with his equals and leave Odinga alone. He promised to face him in 2022.
