Governor John Nyagarama's busy itinerary in the neighbouring Homa Bay County kept him at bay from activities organised by ODM deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya in Nyamira, Saturday.
Instead, Oparanya was taken around the county by First Lady Naomi Nyagarama and Senator Okong'o Mogeni before leading a closed-door meeting at Damside Hotel in Borabu.
"The governor is away at Home Bay where he joined Chief Justice David Maraga for a fund raiser at Nyabondo Kachieng' SDA," said Dennis Kirwa, one of the communication official.
Earlier in the morning, Nyagarama ushered in his Kakamega counterpart at his Tente residence before releasing him to attend functions at Nyabite and Motagara SDA churches.
At Damside Hotel, Oparanya who was accompanied by local ODM leaders along with 15 MCAs from Kakamega, challenged party officials to work with people in the spirit of revamping the party.
"We have to do more by blocking the other team. They are making many trips here but we trust in you. Block them completely," he said.
