For the first time in as many hours, Deputy President William Ruto opened up about the controversial IPSOS Synovate opinion poll that ranked him most corrupt Kenyan.
At Tendere in Kisii where he met thousands of youths across Kisii and Nyamira, Ruto blamed his 'competitors' for 'funding fake research and newspapers' to taint his name.
"You have all seen our competitors saying am corrupt. They cannot withstand our development record and have chickened out.
"They are now funding fake opinion polls and newspapers. After they are through, I invite them to real contest on the ground," barked Ruto.
His defense comes after a section of leaders called for his resignation.
Former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire challenged the DP to be bold enough and account for his wealth.
"You cannot dismiss the very science that you claim to support. Let him account for his wealth or resign," he said.
On Wednesday, IPSOS Synovate ranked Ruto most corrupt Kenyan at 33 per cent, an outcome he disagrees with.
Also coming second is Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru who has since threatened to move to court
Although he never mentioned his competitors, Ruto has been linking Raila Odinga and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to his woes.
