Residents of Bomwancha village in Bonchari, Kisii County are living in fear following the murder of a bodaboda operator.

Confirming the incident, Kisii County Police Commander Martin Kibet said the body of the deceased who locals identified as 20-year-old Ibrahim Omanga was found dumped at the roadside on Wednesday morning. 

"Omanga's body was recovered by villagers who were going to work. The body had visible injury marks an indication that he was killed by thugs who escaped with his motorbike," said Kibet. 

The police boss urged members of the public to provide information which can lead to the arrest of the killers. 

Kibet assured residents that police officers have been deployed to the area to hunt down the killers. 

"Investigations have commenced to ensure Omanga's killers are brought to book. I am appealing to the residents to remain calm and to give police officers investigating the brutal murder ample time pursue the killers," he stated. 

The commander warned residents against engaging in crime saying the law will not spare anyone.

Kibet said cases of motorbike theft are on the rise in the area and urged bodaboda riders to be vigilant and report the thieves to police for arrests to be made.
