A section of Nakuru leaders is fighting on who is the bonafide Deputy President’s point man in the region.
One faction of the leaders is led by Senator Susan Kihika while the other is under Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri.
The war on who is the real point man in Nakuru between Ngunjiri and Kihika has seen the two go for each other’s jugular.
Kihika is said to have gained favour in Ruto’s political circles in Nairobi due to her loaded lover who is said to be a close ally of the DP.
“The man has been in Ruto’s circles since his time as the Eldoret North MP. He has financed many of Ruto’s causes and he is the one pushing for Kihika’s consideration as their go-to-person in Nakuru,” a source said.
The Kihika function has sucked in Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria and Speaker Joel Kairu.
“The Speaker was handed the position by Kihika. Kairu knows it too and is simple her spanner boy in the assembly” an MCA who recently wanted the Speaker ousted said.
In Ruto’s game plan, at play are the massive Kikuyu votes in Nakuru. Though considered a cosmopolitan county, Kikuyus are the majority in Nakuru and the DP want someone who can influence them.
However, a section of leaders feels Susan Kihika is a Johnny-come-late and does not deserve to be considered a point man in Nakuru.
“She is a greenhorn and cannot lead us into any camp. How can someone who is servicing her first elective position in politics lead veterans, we have been in this game for more than 30 years,” a source opposed to Kihika’s group said.
Those in the know said that Ruto fingered Kihika for the position a long time ago and that is why she had been handed the role of leading Uhuru’s reelection campaign in the region before it created an uproar and the groups were disbanded.
Ngunjiri, smelling the coffee, felt he had been outfoxed by his political rival and had to throw some spanner into the works.
“Ngunjiri has been in Kanu for long. He knows the underhand tactics and that is why he convinced Kikuyu Council of Elders to install him the Rift Valley Spokesperson. He will have a better bargaining power,” a former MP in Nakuru said.
Interestingly, another faction of elders cropped up and dismissed the installation.
The Deputy President is also playing his cards close to his chest like a super seducer who shows love to two women and leaves them fighting each other for the suitor’s attention.
