Miguna in a tweet on Friday morning claimed President Uhuru Kenyatta had agreed with Raila that there would be no swearing in of the former prime minister on the same day but through his insistence decided to have him arrested in order to stop the event from taking place.

He said police had been sent to Intercontinental Hotel opposite Uhuru Park where he was to arrest him but only survived after he marshaled youth who escorted him to Uhuru Park.

"On January 30, 2018, Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta had agreed that there was going to be no public swearing-in at Uhuru Park. They had arranged to have me arrested at the Intercontinental Hotel at 10AM so that I could not administer the oath on Raila Odinga that day," Miguna tweeted.

"But after I managed to prevent my arrest by marshaling 500 NRM Kenya youth to come to the Intercontinental Hotel and who accompanied me to Uhuru Park, Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta decided to switch off signals for four local TV stations so that Kenyans would not see the event live."

Miguna was arrested a day after the swearing in and detained for several days before he was deported to Canada. He returned to the country but was deported again.
