A Kisumu Bishop was on Thursday arraigned in court for allegedly defiling three girls.
Bishop Joseph Agutu was presented before Resident Magistrate Pauline Mbulika, where he also faced allegations of infecting one of the girls with HIV, said the prosecution side.
Agutu, however, excused himself saying that he was not ready to stand trial, claiming that he is busy making burial preparations for his mother who died two weeks back.
He also denied the allegations, terming them fabricated to get back at him after hearing the girls talk to their boyfriends.
Agutu who is also facing another charge of touching the minors’ privates is alleged to have done the crime between April and July 16.
The prosecution side told the court that he took advantage of the girls aged between 14 and 16 when he lived with them in an orphanage.
He was released on bond with the case set to be heard on October 7, reports Standard Digital.
