Legislators led by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei on Sunday celebrated Raila's appointment, terming it as an opportunity for him to play 'international politics'.

But the former Kitutu Masaba MP says Raila's new assignment will not affect his contribution to the Kenya in social-economic and geopolitical aspects.

"Raila is a Kenyan and he has a right to handle all local issues. The new assignment gives him an added advantage to address continental issues and those calling for his exit are insensitive."

At an event attended by both President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto in Kapsabet on Sunday, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, a close ally of the DP, urged Mr. Odinga to quit local politics due to responsibility that comes with his AU assignment. But Bosire insisted that Mr.

Odinga will closely monitor local politics besides fighting for equity for all.

"He has a right to be here. Those backing the DP should join Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta in pushing for development. It's too early to start engaging in campaigns," he said.

IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECTS

Further, in the interview with Egesa FM, Bosire lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta's adminstration for initiating construction of road networks in Kitutu Masaba, which were earmarked during his regime.

Government has already deployed a contractor at Kemera-Kiendege-Gachuba-Girango-Keumbu road, a 12km strip.

Also on the line is Magombo-Esani-Gesima (11kms) and Tombe-Nyaikuro (4km).The former lawmaker wondered why the contractor for Kemera-Amabuko, with an annexure of Manga-Motemomwamu left the site.

"The road was budgeted for and the contractor should be on the site," he said.

Mr. Odinga will serve as African Union High Representative for Infrastructural Development, a role which he accepted on Saturday after confirmation by the organisation's chair Moussa Faki.
